Greetings students. I am at a curriculum meeting today so you will have to press on without me.

Complete your "warm up" and then we will be taking another data probe. 

Here is the DOL:

1. she had lain the groceries on the counter but she had forgot to put the ice cream into the freezer

2. betty her cousin should of visited the us

We will discuss the corrections on Thursday when I come back. 

When you get those corrected take your probe. Use this link. Take your time and do a good job.

When finished find something quiet to work on or read your book.

Today you will be completing a baseline writing assessment and then answering some basic survey questions about reading.

1/9 Happy Friday

Today we will be taking another baseline spelling assessment.

From there, we will begin to talk about what this class is going to look like this semester.

I have a short google presentation we will watch. 

When we finish, we will re-organize our binders, and then fill out a brief exit slip. 

1/8 Baseline Spelling Assessment and CNN Student News

Today we take a baseline spelling assessment. Please take out a sheet of paper and number it to 48.

When we finish will watch our first CNN student news of the semester and write a student response.

Below are some examples of responses from last semester. What stands out when you look at them? Do you think they are high quality or just okay? What could be done to improve them?

"i think that the NFL shouldnt give out illegal pills or not give them to the players if they dont know what they do to there body or if they dont know what they are. i also think that the retired players shouldnt be complaining about this now i think they should of said something back when they played for the team because obviously they didnt care when the trainer or team doctor gave the pills to the player."

"The story that stood out to me was the magic leap story about facebook buying oculus, is cost facebook $2billion and google owns magic leap"

"i thought that girl rebuilding that mans mustang was the my favorite. i thought it was because i love people that are like that like thats so nice if you have that much respect for them thats amazing because most of the people in this stupid world dont do that type of stuff at all. i would of done the same thing the best thing about it is the guy didnt even know she was doing it. its just so nice to do something like that for somebody. some military guys coming out like that dont have the money to pay for anything." 

"I think that it is weird that Kim Jong Un disappeared. Theres also a US movie that is coming out with James Franco and Seth Rogan called the Interview and its about killing Kim Jong Un. It's just kind of ironic. Also he has had an injury in his left leg last time people saw him."
